Background

The Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has started a new campaign known as The Emirates: The Startup Capital of the World. The initiative aims to enhance the overall role of the UAE as a global center of entrepreneurship and innovation and help young Emiratis to develop successful businesses.

The campaign is supervised by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in collaboration with the UAE Government Media Office and the UAE Entrepreneurship Council. It brings together more than 50 incubators and accelerators, supported by both public and private sector partners, as well as leading national institutions and universities. This is aimed at developing a welcoming atmosphere that develops entrepreneurial skills and opens economic opportunities.

The initiative is to promote innovation, facilitate the expansion of businesses at a quicker pace, and enhance the economy of the country through special programs, platforms, and partnerships. Emirati youth will gain access to mentorship, funding, and resources that can help transform ideas into scalable enterprises.

As part of the effort, the Young Entrepreneurs & Graduate Business Expo will be organised across schools and universities in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The expo will showcase student and graduate-led business projects to investors, potential partners, and support organisations, encouraging entrepreneurship from an early stage.

This initiative reflects the UAE’s long-term strategy to become a global destination for startups and a leader in the creator economy.
